My father was in the military during the first part of my childhood, so I was lucky to get to live in a variety of places and to have seen alot of the U.S. These experiences have inspired me to load my kids into the car and take off for family road trips, and further afield. A favorite aunt also opened my eyes to the world beyond our borders with trips to London, Paris, Rome, Copenhagen...even Istanbul....and thus my travel "addiction" was born.

I started my career in fashion retailing, but made a leap into the field of education once I started my family. Now as a private tutor, freelance writer, volunteer, and soccer coach I am able to bring those life experiences to my writing.

Living in Texas has provided me with innumerous opportunities to explore this great state's landscape and history. One of our favorite family escapes is to Galveston Island, just south of Houston. I have published several articles the "Islander Magazine", www.TheIslanderMagazine.com on a variety of topics ranging from surf camp to summer big band concerts.

National Parks are another passion of mine, and my NP Passport is filling up quickly with stamps... from Florida's Everglades to Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park. These treasures are amazing to share with kids and always provide an educational experience, as well as a way to enjoy the outdoors with your family.

It was a college travel literature course at University of Texas that first opened my eyes to the world of travel writing. Reading the works of Jan Morris and Pico Ayer reveal a whole new way to understand the world around us. Their inspiration propels me to want to share my travels with others as well.
